[REVSHARE] Disclaimer this is a revenue share position with NO SALARY initially, although additional funding may be available if we can secure it. Almost half of our team has AAA experience so we are optimistic about our chances to receive funding.


The project is already in development and we are releasing our demo in the following months.


Your Role

As the

Art Director/Lead Artist

, you’ll be the driving force behind the visual identity of

Shadows of the Lost

. You’ll define and uphold the game’s

dark fantasy realistic

art style while actively contributing to asset creation. From sculpting high-quality props and environments to setting the tone for the game’s visual storytelling, your work will directly shape the immersive world of the game.

This hybrid role combines leadership with hands-on artistry, making it perfect for someone who enjoys both directing a creative vision and contributing as an artist.

Portfolio requred to be considered. Must include realistic style art examples We are not looking for stylized examples.

Shadows of the Lost


is a dark fantasy soulslike that takes the genre to haunting new depths, blending momentum-based combat, a gripping story, and a unique companion system. Set in a fractured world corrupted by an otherworldly shadow, the ruins of once-great civilizations echo with the lingering power of demigods who forged deadly pacts with mortal rulers.

As a lone adventurer, traverse desolate landscapes shaped by twisted myths. From a dark fantasy style frostbitten ruins of Norse sagas to the cursed tombs of Egyptian kings. Unearth relics tied to ancient powers, forge bonds with companions, and confront the creeping influence of the Shadows of The Lost.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain the game’s

    dark fantasy realistic

    art style.
  • Design and create high-quality 3D props and environmental assets that align with the artistic vision.
  • Build modular and reusable assets for efficient world-building.
  • Collaborate with level designers to create cohesive and immersive environments.
  • Optimize assets for performance without sacrificing visual quality.
  • Use industry-standard tools (e.g., Blender, Maya, Substance Painter) to model and texture assets.
  • Work closely with the team to integrate assets into Unreal Engine 5.
  • Implement materials, shaders, and lighting that enhance the game’s dark fantasy tone.
  • Iterate on feedback from the project lead and team to meet high-quality standards.


What We’re Looking For

  • A portfolio showcasing

    realistic props and/or environmental assets

    in a

    dark fantasy style

    .
  • Strong skills in 3D modeling, texturing, and material creation.
  • Proficiency in tools like Blender, Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine 5, including asset integration and optimization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a remote team environment and adapt to feedback.
  • Passion for the

    dark fantasy genre

    and/or action RPGs.


Not Required but Nice to Have

  • Experience with photogrammetry or procedural asset creation tools.
  • Knowledge of lighting, atmosphere, and composition for creating immersive environments.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine’s World Partition or Landscape tools.
  • Experience optimizing assets for high-performance gameplay.
  • Experience mentoring or providing feedback to other artists.
