Almost half of our team has AAA experience so we are optimistic about our chances to receive funding but it is not guaranteed. We do not require full time commitment until we have funding.
Your Role
As an
Environmental Artist
, you’ll play a key role in crafting the breathtaking landscapes and immersive worlds of
Shadows of the Lost
. From frostbitten ruins inspired by Norse mythology to cursed Egyptian tombs, you will design and create visually stunning environments that bring our dark fantasy world to life. Your work will involve sculpting detailed environments, refining textures, and ensuring all assets are seamlessly integrated into Unreal Engine 5.
You’ll collaborate with level designers, technical artists, and other team members to ensure the environments you create align with the game’s
dark fantasy realistic
aesthetic and enhance the player experience.
Portfolio requred to be considered. Must include realistic style art examples We are not looking for stylized examples.

Responsibilities

Design and create
high-quality, realistic 3D environments
that align with the game’s
dark fantasy style
. (MUST HAVE EXAMPLES, WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR STYLIZED) - Sculpt and model detailed environmental assets such as architecture, terrain, and foliage using tools like Blender, Maya, or ZBrush.
- Develop realistic textures, materials, and shaders using Substance Painter and other industry-standard tools.
- Collaborate with level designers to ensure environments enhance gameplay and storytelling.
- Optimize assets for performance without sacrificing visual fidelity.
- Use Unreal Engine 5 to build and integrate environments, ensuring proper lighting, composition, and atmosphere.
- Work closely with the art director and team to iterate and refine designs based on feedback.
What We’re Looking For

A portfolio showcasing
realistic 3D environments
with a
dark fantasy aesthetic
. - Proficiency in tools like Blender, Maya, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.

, including asset integration, lighting, and optimization. - Strong understanding of topology, UV mapping, and PBR workflows.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a remote team environment and adapt to feedback.
