Bonsai seeks a passionate 3D modeler and artist with at least 3 years of experience to lead and craft captivating 3D experiences (models, textures, lighting environments and the like). This role will support Bonsai’s 3D book of business. Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a professional 3D designer.
• Familiarity with 3D technologies and frameworks such as Sketchfab, threeJS, CAD, etc.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent communication and team management skills.

About the job:

This position will be responsible for managing clients through the web/app design/development and digital marketing process.

• 3D Modeling: Create high-quality 3D models that align with Bonsai’s project requirements, ensuring a detailed and accurate representation of the desired objects.
• 3D Texturing: Develop and apply textures to 3D models, enhancing their realism and visual appeal while maintaining consistency with the overall design and theme.
• 3D Baking: Utilize baking techniques to create detailed textures and lighting effects on 3D models, reducing computational load while preserving visual quality.
• Lighting: Implement effective lighting techniques to bring out the best features of the 3D models, creating a visually appealing and lifelike environment.
• Optimization: Ensure that 3D models and environments are optimized for performance, with a focus on maintaining high quality while minimizing load times and resource usage.
• Leadership in 3D Initiatives: Lead Bonsai’s 3D initiatives, spearheading projects and guiding the team in creating cutting-edge 3D content.
• Product Configurator Development: Contribute to the development and enhancement of Bonsai’s 3D product configurator, ensuring it remains an award-winning, industry-leading tool.
• Innovation and Improvement: Continuously seek ways to improve and innovate Bonsai’s 3D modeling processes and techniques, staying ahead of industry trends.
• Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including designers, developers, and project managers, to ensure seamless integration and execution of 3D elements.
• Quality Assurance: Maintain high standards of quality and accuracy in all 3D work, conducting thorough reviews and revisions as necessary.
• Business Growth: Assist in expanding Bonsai’s 3D modeling and configurator business, identifying new opportunities and contributing to business development efforts.

Skills for the job:

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1-2 years of experience leading internal (employees, contractors, vendors) and external stakeholders (clients) through web and app development, in addition to some digital marketing projects.

• Advanced 3D Modeling: Proficiency in creating detailed and accurate 3D models using industry-standard software like Autodesk Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max.
• Texture Creation and Mapping: Skill in developing and applying high-quality textures to 3D models to enhance realism and visual appeal.
• Lighting Techniques: Expertise in lighting within 3D environments to achieve lifelike and aesthetically pleasing results.
• 3D Baking: Ability to bake textures and lighting into 3D models, optimizing detail while minimizing computational requirements.
• Performance Optimization: Experience in optimizing 3D models and environments for performance, ensuring smooth functionality on various platforms.
• Leadership and Project Management: Capabilities in leading 3D projects, managing timelines, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams to meet project goals.
• Innovative Design Thinking: A creative mindset with a knack for innovation, continuously seeking to improve and push the boundaries of 3D modeling and configurator development.
• Collaboration and Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and communicate complex 3D concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders.

• Technically Savvy: From mastering Photoshop to navigating web technologies (HTML/CSS/JS, Frameworks, server-side technologies, etc.), you possess enough technical prowess to be a formidable force (coding skills are not mandatory).

Compensation:

• Base salary of $75k to $95k depending on experience.
• Yearly bonus.
