Graphic Artist Pool (Curriculum Materials)

Educurious is a nonprofit organization based in Seattle, WA that aims to empower and motivate young people to achieve academic, career, and personal success and to provide educators with tools for engaging students as active participants in their education.
Educurious is a leader in the development of project-based learning (“PBL”) experiences that engage students with challenging and relevant problems studied by experts in contemporary fields and disciplines. We use best practices in learning sciences and literacy to scaffold students’ authentic participation in projects. In our curriculum and professional learning experiences, Educurious leverages principles grounded in equity and justice to support teachers and youth in transformational learning.
Educurious partners with 60 districts across 16 states and our reach is growing. We do the work in three (3) main ways:

Large-scale competitive adoptions of instructional materials;

Custom programs, with a focus on community-based curriculum co-design and curriculum-based professional learning;

The Role: Contract Graphic Artist Pool (Curriculum Materials)
Reporting to the Educurious Humanities staff, the Contract Graphic Artist is responsible for developing graphic art for posters and icons that help deepen student engagement, interest, and understanding of curriculum units. This role involves participating in regularly scheduled meetings to collaborate on the development and design of the graphic art.
RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:
Unit Poster Design:

Develop visually compelling posters for Civics and USH units that resonate with the target student demographic.

Incorporate relevant themes, historical imagery, and engaging design elements to capture students’ attention and enhance the learning experience.

Ensure consistency with existing branding guidelines and educational standards.
Unit Icon Design:

Create unique and recognizable icons for each Civics and USH unit to be used across various educational materials and platforms.

Design icons that effectively communicate the essence of each unit while maintaining a cohesive visual identity throughout the curriculum.
Collaboration:
-
Work closely with the curriculum development team to understand unit content, key concepts, and educational objectives.

Incorporate feedback and revisions from stakeholders to ensure the final designs align with educational goals and standards.
Deadline Management:

Adhere to project timelines and deliver high-quality designs within specified deadlines.

Communicate proactively regarding project progress, potential challenges, and proposed solutions.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Proven experience as a Graphic Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing relevant work.

Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign).

Understanding of educational design principles and the ability to tailor designs to the target student audience.

Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with the Curriculum Development team.

Ability to take creative direction, incorporate feedback, and iterate on designs accordingly.
