Are you an experienced 3D character artist with a passion for stylized, exaggerated, and expressive characters of all sorts? If so, we want you to join our team as the Lead 3D Character Artist! Reporting and working closely with the Art Director, you’ll be the creative force behind our playable characters, and you will play a pivotal role in shaping the visual identity of our upcoming AAA competitive game. Your artistic eye and creative point of view will not go to waste here! This is a great opportunity to join our team in the early stages of prototyping.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and Inspire: Lead a team of talented 3D character artists, both internal and external, in a fully remote work environment, setting the bar for character design quality and ensuring the team’s artistic vision aligns with the game’s overall aesthetic.
- Character Creation: Create high-quality 3D character models from concept to completion, ensuring they are optimized for real-time rendering while maintaining a high level of visual fidelity.
- Collaboration: Collaborate closely with the Art Director, Concept Artists, Game Designers, and Animators to bring characters to life, ensuring they seamlessly fit into the game’s world and contribute to gameplay mechanics. “A creature is a feature!”
- Artistic Direction: Work with the Art Director to define and maintain the visual style and consistency of the game’s characters, ensuring they resonate with our target audience.
- Pipeline Improvement: Continuously refine and optimize character art pipelines to maximize efficiency and quality, while keeping up with industry best practices.
- Mentoring: Provide guidance, mentorship, and feedback to other artists, helping them develop their skills and grow.
Qualifications:
- Extensive Experience: A proven track record as a 3D character artist with a minimum of 7 years of experience in the gaming industry, including leadership roles.
- Strong Communication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.
- Portfolio: A strong portfolio showcasing your character modeling and texturing skills, highlighting your ability to create stylized characters with personality and flair across the spectrum of anatomy and hard surface.
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities, with experience in guiding and managing a team of artists.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Maya, ZBrush, Substance Painter, and knowledge of PBR workflows.
- Passion for MP Games: A genuine passion for video games and a deep understanding of what makes characters engaging in a competitive gaming context.
- Flexibility: A willingness to adapt to evolving project requirements and the ability to thrive in a dynamic and creative environment.
