Job Description

Good Trouble Introduction

Good Trouble’s mission is to create games that put player experience and accessibility at the forefront, striving to raise the bar for equity, diversity, and approachability in games. As a remote-first studio, we welcome applications from US-based collaborators regardless of race, ethnicity, age, gender, religion, sexual orientation, identity, or ability.

Role Overview

As Art Director, you’ll be the authoritative voice on the look and feel of our project throughout the course of production. You’ll work directly with the design team to help shape the entire visual language of our Real Time Strategy game. You’ll work in both 3D and 2D to conceptualize, draft, and finalize the characters, environments, vehicles, in-world props/machinery, visual effects, and more.

Being an exclusively remote studio, autonomy and accountability are key. As a Good Trouble employee, you will not be micromanaged or expected to micromanage others. Team members are expected to keep their own schedules and organize their own tasks. Our structure means that we all share a great deal of trust in the completion of labor, and that we’ll stick on task and on schedule.

Who You Are:

You’re ready to take ownership of a game’s look and feel, working with our designers to create and revise the characters, places, and things that make up the fiction we’re crafting. You have a discerning eye for detail and a unique style to your art. You’re capable of producing a wide variety of high quality 3D and 2D art that work in harmony to craft an entire consistent universe. You’re excited by the idea that every visual corner of our project will be painted by your (metaphorical) brush strokes. You’re happy working as Good Trouble’s sole artist as we begin production, but are keen on overseeing junior artists and contractors if and when their talents become necessary.
