Job Description
We are flexible in our choice of 3D modeling package with a preference for open source and/or free solutions, including Blender, OnShape, FreeCAD, or OpenSCAD. We will use a limited number of geometric feature types in the modeling, so the specific choice of package is not important. To be successful, you will need to have an understanding of how HVAC systems are built and most of the key components that go into building one. Your experience can be in either residential or commercial HVAC.
We anticipate this being initially a 1-month contractor engagement with a level of effort from 20 to 40 hours/week (to be discussed and agreed) that could grow to 6-12 months or beyond. You can be located anywhere in the world but will be required to participate in daily meetings with our engineering team during US standard workday hours. You will be required to sign our standard services agreement.
Your Responsibilities:
- Create a library of simplified component models for :100 HVAC parts as specified by the engineering team. These will be simple parametric bounding boxes, or small sets of bounding boxes as necessary
- Create parametric assembly models for specific HVAC product design families
- Collaborate with the engineering team on selecting geometric parameters for both assemblies and components
-
Iterate on models with our engineering team and HVAC experts to ensure realism
Your Skills:
- Familiarity with residential or commercial HVAC system engineering design
- Ability to create robust parametric 3D models for parts and assemblies
- Proficiency with at least one of these 3D modeling tools: Blender, OnShape, FreeCAD, OpenSCAD
- Clear and concise technical communication
