Job Description
About [P1-OM]
In a virtual world industry driven by greed, mania, and privacy infringement, we stand out as the place to connect with people interested in building an ETHICAL Metaverse. No NFTs or crypto.
Together we are researching the ideal social organization to build a real civilization in a digital space.
Making games:
Today we are recruiting for our Open Collective Game Studio [P1-OC].
The goal of [P1-OC] is to undermine the traditional role of capital in the creation of the Metaverse. Our aim is to create a more human-centric virtual future, rather than an over-monetized dystopia.
We have built award-winning games with entirely volunteer-run teams.
We have worked with companies like Bohemia Interactive and Tencent to publish our experiences globally.
Your Role:
As a volunteer, you choose your own hours and set your own deadlines.
A game studio is seeking an experienced and passionate 3D Artist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D models, textures, and animations to bring our game worlds to life. The 3D Artist will collaborate closely with other artists, designers, and developers to ensure that the visual style and gameplay experience are consistently engaging and immersive.
Responsibilities:
Create high-quality 3D assets: Develop visually pleasing and optimized 3D models, textures, and materials for game characters, environments, props, and other in-game elements, while adhering to the project’s artistic direction and technical specifications.
Develop animations and rigging: Produce lifelike character animations, object animations, and rigging, ensuring smooth and realistic movement in-game. Collaborate with the animation team to create cohesive and responsive animations that enhance gameplay.
Collaborate with the game design team: Work closely with designers to ensure the 3D assets and animations support and enhance the game’s mechanics and overall player experience.
Optimize assets for performance: Maintain and optimize 3D assets to ensure that they meet technical requirements and performance standards, including polygon count, texture resolution, and level-of-detail (LOD) optimization.
Collaborate with the programming team: Work with programmers to develop and implement custom shaders, visual effects, and other advanced rendering techniques to achieve the desired look and feel of the game.
Participate in art reviews and critiques: Provide and receive constructive feedback during regular art reviews and critiques, collaborating with other artists to refine and improve the quality and consistency of the game’s visuals.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge: Stay current with industry trends and techniques, including software tools, 3D rendering methods, and emerging platforms or technologies, to ensure the game’s visuals remain innovative and competitive.
Ensure efficient asset management: Organize, maintain, and appropriately document all 3D assets, following the studio’s naming conventions, file organization, and version control protocols.
Why take on this challenge?
Without money as a motivator, the whole team takes part only because they are passionate about making games.
