RealTruck, Inc. | Junior 3D Modeler (Contract position)

The Junior 3D Modeler will be responsible for improving, optimizing, and creating 3D models related to vehicles and vehicle accessories for our web-based 3D product configuration tool. The ideal candidate will have strong skills in 3D modeling, materials, and animation using Blender 3D software, coupled with excellent organizational abilities.

Core Functions

3D Modeling and Optimization:

• Create high-quality 3D models of vehicles and vehicle accessories from scratch using reference materials.
• Apply efficient modeling techniques to minimize vertex count while maintaining model integrity.
• Ensure clean topology and accurate UV mapping.
• Process and optimize pre-made 3D models for web and AR applications.
• Create and assign materials, make necessary modeling adjustments, and add animations and UVs where needed.
• Ensure models are optimized for performance and memory usage.

Material Creation And Animation

• Develop and utilize Physically Based Rendering (PBR) materials for various vehicle parts and accessories.
• Create animations and rig models as needed to enhance interactivity in the models.

Quality Assurance And Troubleshooting

• Test models for compatibility with the target application, identifying and resolving any issues.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems related to model performance and optimization.
• Maintain an organized and efficient workflow, ensuring items are correctly labeled and stored according to established conventions.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education and Experience

• Minimum of 2 years of Blender experience.
• Strong skills in modeling, model optimization, and maintaining clean topology.
• Experience in creating and applying materials, including PBR materials a plus.
• Proficiency in animation and rigging techniques.

Skills, Abilities, And Knowledge

• Familiarity with 3D modeling tools and formats.
• Problem-solving skills for testing and troubleshooting models.
• Ability to optimize models for performance and memory usage.
• Organizational abilities to manage workflows and documentation.
• Must be able to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
  

Travel

• Minimal travel is required; 10% or less.

Supervisor Responsibilities

• Individual Contributor: working team member with no oversight of others and no management responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

• This position is subject to Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involved sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Physical Activities

• This position is subject to the following physical activities: talking, hearing, the use of fingers to pick, pinch, or type.

Visual Acuity

• The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; expansive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly of fabrication of parts at distances close to the eyes.
