Job Description
About Us
We’re an indie game studio developing new games that brings a bold, fresh energy to timeless classics. Built for casual gamers who love board games, our vision is to make something fun, stylish, and easy to jump into — whether you’re playing your first match or your hundredth.
Role Overview
We’re looking for a talented
2D Graphic Artist
to help expand and finalize the visual identity of our game. This is a 3-month contract role with the potential to extend. You’ll assess and build on an established cartoon-style art direction — contributing new concepts and assets to support upcoming game features and polish the current experience.
You’ll work independently, but in close partnership with our lead game designer and programmers to ensure that all visual elements are cohesive, optimized, and on-brand.
Responsibilities
-
Art Expansion:
Review and understand the game’s current art direction and contribute new 2D assets that match and elevate the existing style. -
2D Asset Creation:
Design engaging cartoon-style visuals including domino tiles, backgrounds, player avatars, game boards, and effects. -
Feature Support:
Create visual assets to support new game features and mechanics (e.g., events, unlockables, power-ups). -
UI Design:
Extend and refine the existing user interface by designing new icons, buttons, menus, and popups that feel natural and intuitive. -
Implementation-Ready:
Ensure all assets are optimized for Unity and work seamlessly within mobile performance constraints. -
Marketing Support:
Contribute to the creation of promotional visuals for the App Store, social channels, and onboarding tutorials.
Requirements
-
Experience:
3+ years of experience working on 2D mobile or casual games, with a portfolio demonstrating a polished cartoon-style aesthetic. -
Art Direction Awareness:
Ability to match an existing art style and build upon it with consistency and creativity. -
Software Proficiency:
Skilled in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and experienced with Unity integration. -
Workflow Readiness:
Comfortable using Trello (or similar task tracking tools) and collaborating in a small remote team. -
Creative Versatility:
Able to take loose ideas and turn them into clean, clear, production-ready art assets. -
Self-Driven:
Ability to manage your own tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly in a remote setting.
Nice to Have
-
Lightweight Animation:
Experience creating animations or transitions using Spine, After Effects, or Unity Animator. -
UI/UX Understanding:
A good sense of mobile usability and how visuals enhance user interaction and flow. -
Version Control:
Familiarity with tools like Git or SourceTree for managing visual asset updates with developers. -
Mobile Optimization:
Understanding of performance-aware design for mobile (e.g., atlasing, texture sizes).
What We Offer
-
Creative Influence:
You’ll help shape the visual experience of a game that’s early in development but already has strong direction. -
Remote Flexibility:
Fully remote position with flexible hours. -
Supportive Team Culture:
Small team that values collaboration, initiative, and ownership. -
Future Opportunity:
Potential for contract extension or transition into ongoing creative roles based on project evolution and fit.
