ABOUT THE ROLE

We’re the creators of What If and we’re looking for a talented 3D artist to help us bring our video concepts to life with engaging and clickable thumbnails. We’re looking for someone who has the ability to create realistic thumbnails that stand out and engage our audience. You have a deep set of tools that include Unreal Engine, Blender, Photoshop and Illustrator.

You’ll be working with the Showrunner and our Concept Art Director to create multiple thumbnails a month across our channels.

ABOUT YOU

• 
  You are creative and detail-oriented
  
• 
  You have a strong portfolio that reflects your 3D art and thumbnail-making skills
  
• 
  You are receptive to feedback and communicate clearly
  
• 
  You’re a diehard YouTube and science fiction fan
  
• 
  You have a deep understanding of the science education niche and what works vs what doesn’t
  

QUALIFICATIONS YOU BRING

• 
  Experience creating thumbnails that get millions of views
  
• 
  Expert ability in Blender, Unreal Engine, Cinema 4D or an equivalent 3D program
  
• 
  Expert ability in Photoshop and Illustrator
  
• 
  Ability to take 3D assets and manipulate them in various ways
  
• 
  A good eye for lighting, composition, scale, colour and layout
  
• 
  Basic understanding and knowledge of 3D modeling, shading, illumination.
  
• 
  Have a good understanding for what works as a video thumbnail on YouTube
  
• 
  Ability to integrate YouTube performance metrics into your creative decision-making process
  
• 
  Receptive to notes, feedback and collaboration
  
• 
  Ability to efficiently work remotely without direct supervision
  
• 
  Ability to communicate effectively and timely, working as part of a team
  

RESPONSIBILITIES

• 
  Use 3D programs to create eye-catching, factually accurate thumbnails for our Underknown brands
  
• 
  Be able to create something from a basic description or sketch
  
• 
  Create multiple versions of various thumbnails and concepts
  
• 
  Have your finger on the pulse for new thumbnail trends on YouTube
  
• 
  The ability to adapt and innovate our packaging methods
